Buying a moses basket after all

New parents-to-be must be some of the easiest customers to sell to. As soon as the words ‘cot death’ are mentioned I find myself reaching for my Amex.

Earlier this month, I attended a Sleep Studio event at Merino Kids in Northcote Road in Battersea. It was a 45-minute session with the founder of The Baby Care Company, and I was the only one there, so I had the chance to ask lots of questions and make the most of the time.

When I mentioned I was planning to use the carrycot from the pram instead of a moses basket if Baby Girl didn’t want to sleep in her cot bed in the beginning, the two dreaded words came up. I hadn’t thought about the fact that taking the pram out will mean it will be exposed to pollution, and I hadn’t considered if my clever space-saving plan could perhaps increase the risk of cot death.

A few hours later the Amex was swiped, and Baby Girl would soon be equipped with a new basket with good airflow, organic bedlinen and bamboo and coconut mattress.

Space-saving is so last season.
