3 great ideas for hosting a children’s birthday party at home

Baby Girl was unsure about leaving her toys at home yesterday and putting on a party dress, but when I told her there would be cake and balloons at the party she was going to, she quickly changed her mind. Looking back, however, I could have listed a number of other things to get her excited about the party:

Bubbles
Baby Girl came running across the room when the bubble machine was brought out, and she could start popping bubbles. Somehow little ones never seem to tire of bubbles, and I think bubble machines are fantastic for birthday parties!

Children’s tables and chairs
When Baby Girl heard the food had been served, she rushed into the kitchen to grab a seat at one of two long children’s tables set up for the around 20 toddlers and pre-schoolers. Baby Girl’s 2-year-old friends are twins, but I still couldn’t believe that they owned soo many little chairs, which make it easy for the party-goers to be independent and enjoy a good meal with friends. It turned out the tables and chairs had been hired from The Balloon Works, and I think this is a fabulous way of turning a home into a child-friendly party venue.

Popular menu
Baby Girl was also very excited about the party menu with some of her all-time favourites, such as macaroni and cheese, sausages from local butcher Parson’s Nose, carrots, cucumber and green beans. Although it must have been a really big job to prepare this food, it seemed like this menu was ideal when cooking for a large number of children.
