3 tips for getting baby to sleep more peacefully

In September a mum asked me if Baby Boy was sleeping well and I heard myself replying that he was a good sleeper. The reason was that she happened to have asked me the morning after I had either forgotten about getting up in the middle of the night, or actually slept between midnight and 6.30am.

I clearly jinxed it. This hasn’t happened since. Not once.

But there are three things that have helped me get a bit of peace in the last few monts:

1. Baby Spa
Baby Boy appears to adore a relaxing float and massage, and when he’s visited the Baby Spa in Kensington he’s had a long lunchtime nap afterwards without waking up early or seeming uneasy. Bliss

2. Osteopath
Baby Boy has also seemed to benefit from appointments with osteopath Simon Prideaux at The Smart Clinics in Chelsea, who he started seeing as he had a preference to sleep on one side. After each appointment with Simon he’s seemed really content, peaceful and less refluxy. Relaxing times

3. Baby Rice
When Baby Boy had turned five months I sometimes woke up at around 2am thinking it surely must be time to get up soon, as I’d been up close to 10 times by that point since going to bed at around midnight. I felt I had enough milk but it didn’t seem to fill him up properly, so when a friend suggested I should try putting a scoop of baby rice in a bottle of expressed milk in the evening I wanted to discuss it with a GP and try it out as soon as Baby Boy was deemed old enough. When we started it helped my situation and we were back to Baby Boy waking up no more than two to three times at least. Phew
