When dads go Bake With A Legend

Bake With A Legend CookingOn New Year’s Eve Daddy T made a chocolate fondant and raspberry coulis, which he forgot to serve. Since it had taken him so long to make, he ended up having to do more fondants the next day to make the most of the coulis, and it got him hooked on the idea that 2017 was the year he was going to expand his pastry skills.

That’s why I had to let him be the one to review a class with Bake With A Legend, and last week he and a friend were invited to take on a chocolate sphere challenge with Great British Bake Off star Ugne Bubnaityte (pictured at the top with Daddy T on the right and his friend on the left).

Bake With A Legend work with many former contestants from the hit TV show The Great British Bake Off, and they offer classes and corporate events in private venues in London. The three-hour class with Ugne was held in a cookery school in Wandsworth, which was easy to get to, and the guys were served prosecco and snacks upon arrival.

The class kicked off with a demo by Ugne on how to get started with the project of the day, making chocolate mousse spheres filled with fresh raspberries, glazed with chocolate glaze and sitting on a crunchy white chocolate base. After learning how to do the first steps, they returned to their cooking station and their competitive sides kicked in.

They were melting chocolates, splitting egg yolks and whisking away in between the cooking demonstrations, and the result was pretty awesome.

When they later came home with their amazing spheres all boxed up the guys were beaming, and me and the other wife were super impressed with their achievement.

We all tasted the chocolate mousse spheres, which looked restaurant-quality, and they were delicious – and very filling.

The guys also suddenly seemed to be experts on Great British Bake Off, knowing all about the show and the process.

It seemed like their conclusion was that the Bake With A Legend class was a fun and memorable experience–a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

My expectations for Daddy T’s weekend menus have just become that bit higher!

Bake With A Legend offers different classes throughout the year with stars from Great British Bake Off, who demonstrates different baking skills and talks about the show experience. The three-hour class with Ugne was priced at £85 per person. Daddy T and his friend had been invited to the class to review
