Celebrating the Be Cool Be Nice book launch

When Big Girl and I were out driving the other day and passed an unfriendly driver, we both agreed the other car was clearly unfamiliar with Be Cool Be Nice.

After attending the book launch for the anti-cyberbullying movement Be Cool Be Nice’s book of the same name, I came out feeling the positive affirmations applied to all aspects of life.

The new book (Be Cool Be Nice, Studio Press, £14.99), which is practically relevant to both kids and adults and perhaps best for over 8s, advocates kindness and good manners and encourages readers to interact and use social media in a positive way. The cool book is also accompanied by a Be Cool Be Nice app and readers can uncover Be Cool Be Nice SnapChat lenses by snapping a code in the book.

From browsing through the book at the event, I also felt the advice was presented in a way that tweens and teens will like. The author is the founder of the Be Cool Be Nice movement, songwriter and producer Gerry Deveaux, and the book’s illustrations, stickers and postcards are the work of design legends including Burberry, Marc Jacobs, Marc Newson, Pat McGrath and more.

The launch was held at the House of Lords, a first for me when it comes to events, and HRH Princess Eugenie was one of the many supporters who were in attendance.

The event and launch has prompted me to spend more time talking to Big Girl about the fact that in our family we think it’s cool to be nice, and that’s the behaviour I want to model for the kids–whether it’s on social media, on the road or anywhere else.

Be cool, be nice. Always.
