5 Christmas events to book early for London families

LaplandUK
In my view, LaplandUK is the ultimate Father Christmas experience for London families. The attraction is located a stone throw from London on the Windsor Estate, and as part of the LaplandUK adventure families go on a journey through a magical winterland where little ones visit the toy factory, meet elves, join in Father Christmas’s favourite sport of ice skating and get to meet Father Christmas in a charming cabin. Booking re-opens at midday on 1 July 2019. Read my review of LaplandUK from Christmas 2018 HERE.

Christmas at Kew
The magical after-dark experience Christmas at Kew is another London Christmas favourite, and the tickets for the event, which is now in its seventh year, went on sale in June. It is an evening event (slots starting from 5pm), which takes place after Kew Gardens closes, and visitors get to go on an illuminated trail through the beautiful gardens, experiencing a light show with laser beams, a tunnel of light, a flickering Fire Garden and more. Along the way, visitors can also enjoy mulled wine and hot chocolate, toast marshmallows, stop for a performance with Santa and his elves, go on family rides and finish with some Christmas shopping. Read my tips for taking children to Christmas at Kew HERE.

Carols at the Royal Albert Hall
At Royal Albert Hall, the popular festive carol events Carols at the Royal Albert Hall will be back in the days leading up to Christmas from 21 to 24 December and tickets are on sale now. The carol-singing events are ideal for families wanting to dress up in Christmas jumpers or novelty hats and decorating seats or boxes in tinsel and lights to get in the spirit of Christmas while singing along to a mix of classic and modern Christmas hits.

Nutcracker

The Nutcracker at London Coliseum and the Royal Albert Hall
For Christmas 2019, the English National Ballet returns to London Coliseum with its production of Christmas favouriteThe Nutcracker from 13 to 30 December and tickets are on sale now. (Read my review from Christmas 2017 HERE.) In addition, the Birmingham Royal Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker will return to the Royal Albert Hall from 28-31 December. (At the Royal Opera House, Coppelia will be playing this Christmas from 28 November 2019 to 7 January 2020 and tickets are yet to go on sale.)

The Snowman at The Peacock
The family favourite The Snowman will return to The Peacock for a 22nd Christmas, playing from 21 November 2019 to 5 January 2020. The magical show is based on Raymond Briggs’ picture book The Snowman, and the film directed by Dianne Jackson and produced by John Coates. Through dance, the show tells the story of a boy and his snowman that comes to life. Read my review from Christmas 2017 HERE.
