Easy family holiday packing with Original Travel and Sharky and George fun packs

Sharky and George Backpack Original Travel‘I want my backpack now! I need it.’

It was not straightforward getting Baby Girl to go to bed the other day. She wanted to have the new backpack she had received from Battersea-based luxury family holiday specialist Original Travel in her bed, and she kept running after it every time I tried to hide it away and explain that it was for our next trip abroad.

Original Travel works with cool London children’s entertainment company Sharky and George to offer young travellers a tailor-made fun pack for their holiday. When booking a holiday with Original Travel parents receive a questionnaire to fill in with details about the children’s age and interests, and Sharky and George then put together a bespoke backpack filled with activities to keep children entertained on the journey to the destination and while abroad.

We had a chance to test the fun pack questionnaire service to review, and Baby Girl, who is extremely girly and loves arts and crafts, received a backpack with a mermaid and princess activity book, tiaras to decorate, a handbag art activity pack, bubbles, a floatation toy, girly crayons, a foldable bucket, a giraffe cuddly toy key ring with its own passport, art packs with coloured paper, glue and stickers, a box with sweets and lots more. Each backpack also includes a lanyard with ideas for fun games, and an emergency envelope with a few extra games, so parents have something to pull out in the event of a delayed flight or similar.

I tried to prepare a fun backpack myself for Baby Girl to have on our last trip to Disneyland, but it takes time and can be hard work to plan for. That’s why I loved the Original Travel concept when I first heard about it, and I think it is just one of those little extras that make travelling with and packing for children less stressful for parents.

The activities in Baby Girl’s backpack, which we’ll take with us on our next holiday later in the summer, were tailored to keep her entertained on the flight, during the airport transit, and while on holiday.

Pretty cool – and even exciting for parents!
