How to survive car journey with baby

Baby Nomade Red Castle‘Mummy, Daddy, my baby is crying.’
‘Mummy, Daddy, my baby is screaming’

Baby Girl has been an excellent big sister, taking her role very seriously, and car journeys are no exception. When we’re out driving, we’re regularly receiving updates from the back seat, usually frequent notifications about whether Baby Boy is crying, or if the crying can be categorised as ‘screaming’.

With car journeys having become pretty stressful, I feel I now need to be super organised to drive around with both seven-week-old Baby Boy and three-year-old Baby Girl–at least if I want to avoid it taking up to 30 minutes to simply get us all in or out of the car with shoes on and dummies at hand.

That’s why I’ve loved using Babynomade, a Red Castle baby blanket designed to keep baby covered on the go, which I received to review. A friend with two children had previously told me that Babynomade was her ‘top  baby buy’, but I hadn’t fully understood the concept before this summer.

I now feel Babynomade helps take some of the stress out of driving with baby, as I’ve got one thing sorted – Baby Boy is covered up when needed and I avoid waking him up unnecessarily to put on extra clothes to go out or take things off when getting back inside.

I now keep the soft Babynomade blanket, which  has openings for the car seat harness, in the car seat, and the design makes it easy for me to get Baby Boy in and out of the car. I regularly use car seat adaptors on the Stokke Scoot v2 buggy, clicking the car seat onto the buggy when running quick errands, and I also often carry Baby Boy into the house in his car seat if he’s sleeping when we arrive home.

Since Babynomade has a hood to cover Baby Boy’s head,  I don’t wake him up by putting a hat on him when getting out of the car, and since it has velcro fastenings to keep the blanket in position, I simply open the blanket and don’t wake him up by removing a jacket or similar when going inside. Anything for a bit of peace!

Babynomade is available in two sizes and different material for summer and winter. I also plan to start using  the versatile blanket with our BabyBjorn baby carrier
