10 items to make travelling with baby and kids easier

SkyBaby Travel Mattress1. SkyBaby
When travelling with infants who don’t have their own seat on a plane, the padded SkyBaby mattress is fantastic, creating a comfortable sleeping environment for baby. I liked it so much after using it with Big Girl that we’re now distributing the product in Scandinavia

2. Milton Anitbacterial Surface Wipes
Taking children to the toilet at airports and onboard planes is not always fun, and I always try to carry a pack of Milton Antibacterial Surface Wipes to make it as hygienic as possible. I also use the wipes to clean baby toys on the go, high chairs in restaurants, airplane trays and any other surfaces that could benefit from a quick wipe-down

3. Trunki BoostApak
I recently received Trunki BoostApak to review, and this 2-in-1 rucksack and booster seat is brilliant for travelling. I took it abroad over half term, and it was great to have a booster seat for Big Girl in the car we had booked to take us to Heathrow

4. Andrex Washlets
Sometimes it’s better to bring your own toilet tissue for emergencies, and Andrex Washlets, flushable toilet tissue wipes, are available in small travel packs ideal for family travel

5. SnoozeShade
When travelling with baby in a stroller, a sunshade with UV protection makes life much easier at nap time, and we used SnoozeShade with Big Girl when she was little. SnoozeShade is compatible with different buggy types, and SnoozeShade Original (£19.99) was a great fit on our Maclaren Quest, a popular stroller for travelling

6.  iGuy or Blok iPad caseiGuy iPad cover
The iPad can quickly become pretty essential on trips, and it’s best to keep it safe on the go, protecting it with an iPad case designed for family use. We have iGuy from Speck, which is a chunky iPad case that’s good for kids to hold and manage, and I think this is particularly useful to have with young children. Logitech has a new protective  iPad case out. the Blok iPad case. which looks like a good alternative for families, as it’s been made to be dropped

7. Babyzen Yoyo
Compact buggy Babyzen Yoyo can fit in the overhead compartment of an airplane and has a shoulder strap, making it easy to carry. I was thrilled to have this when travelling with two kids on my own for the first time last week, as there was little risk of damage during the flight and the buggy is lightweight and easy to fold

8. Sunscreen
Unless we’re tavelling to France, where I think it’s easy to get hold of good quality sunscreen for kids, I prefer to  buy high protection kids sunscreen in the UK–ideally free from parabens and fragrance

9. BabyBjorn Miracle
For holiday with a baby five months or older, a front-facing baby carrier can be brilliant for taking baby out and about. We’ve used BabyBjorn Miracle, which I’ve previously received to review, on beach holidays, and it’s been great for going on walks on the beach and many also choose to travel with baby in a baby carrier

10. Kids headphones
When travelling with an iPad, headphones are a must-have for flights, and it’s useful to have a pair designed for kids to avoid the sound being too high. Three-year-old Big Girl has the colourful JVC ones (JVC HA-KD5-P/R/V/Y), which look comfortable and features soft ear pads
