Mumpreneurs: Why being a London mum is so inspiring

Tine HolidayTwo years ago when I was working as a full-time financial journalist, I would never have guessed that my next career move would be blogging for lifestyle companies and working as a social media consultant. Becoming a mum has opened up a range of new opportunities for me, as I’ve met so many fantastic people and made a lot of new friends along the way.

I love the fact that London is full of mumpreneurs–a word I didn’t even know existed a few years back–and it’s very inspiring to be surrounded by fun, innovative and talented ladies in the mummy circle.

This time of year, some are heading to trade shows to kick-start new ventures. I’ve recommended friends looking to set up a retail business to visit Top Drawer London this week, a retail trade show featuring design-led gifts. Since I work with retail companies, I went yesterday and left the show feeling incredibly inspired.

I also have friends who will probably be exhibiting at events like these in the future. One talented mum is producing her very own products, and I’m super excited to see her business launching later this year.

May 2014 be the year for London mums!
