Going on Peppa Pig’s Muddy Puddle Walk with Save the Children

Four-year-old Big Girl was ready to leave London on Tuesday. She had discovered a very happy place with lots of bright colours, smiley children and parents, charming houses, fun fair rides and indoor and outdoor play areas. It was Peppa Pig World.

We had been invited to Peppa Pig World in Paultons Park to celebrate the Save the Children Peppa Pig’s Muddy Puddle Walk campaign, which will see thousands of children teaming up, raising money and go on a walk between 8 and 14 May 2017.

At the event we attended on Tuesday, a very excited Big Girl got to enter Peppa Pig World before the park opened to the public to enjoy an exclusive meeting with Peppa Pig, George Pig, Zoe Zebra and Suzy Sheep. The adorable furry characters pushed Big Girl and a much more skeptical 22-month-old Baby Boy on the playground roundabout and on the swing.

The children then put on their wellies–which many children will do when going on their own Muddy Puddle Walks–and Baby Boy ran around in the Muddy Puddles area in Peppa Pig World, splashing with the water and making the most of his day outdoors.

After the fantastic start to the day, we went on a Muddy Puddle Walk around Paultons Park, which was made fun for the kids by giving them an activity sheet with things to spot and tick off along the route.

This was a great example of how parents can plan fun Muddy Puddle Walks for children, and I was thrilled to hear there are already 7000 groups in the UK that have signed up to raise money and go on a Peppa Pig Muddy Puddle Walk for Save the Children.

Tine with Peppa PigBy getting sponsored for a walk, walkers can help save lives and give children in some of the world’s poorest countries the chance to learn, play and grow up healthy and happy. In fact, as little as £3.30 could pay for a blanket to keep a refugee child warm in bitter winter conditions.

To participate, groups pick a date, invite other families, decide on a safe route and plan how to raise money by either getting sponsored, having a bake sale or coming up with other ideas. The Peppa Pig’s Muddy Puddle Walk Fundraising Pack includes tips for walks and activities to do along the way, as well as ‘I’m a Muddy Puddle Walker’ Peppa stickers.

There are also Peppa prizes up for grabs (see details on the Save the Children site). For raising £1 children can get a special certificate, and for raising £80 children can get a certificate and a Peppa Pig goodie bag. A £150 sponsorship can get children a certificate, goodie bag and a DVD, and those who raise £200 can also be entered into a prize draw to win a visit from Peppa or Peppa Pig products.

Happy walking!
