Review: Annabel Karmel’s New Complete Baby & Toddler Meal Planner for the ultimate guide to solids

Peas and CarrotsIn the last week Baby Boy has suddenly become super fussy again. He likes snacks to hold and cold water, but he’s not been big on other solids.

While struggling to find appropriate meals for him, I’ve tried referring to the ultimate starting solids book by UK baby and toddler meal expert Annabel Karmel’s bestseller The Complete Baby & Toddler Meal Planner.

When I stopped by the Annabel Karmel stand at The Baby Show in October I was thrilled to find out the original bestseller had been updated and published again for today’s mums since the advice on starting solids appears to have changed even since Big Girl started three years ago.

I’ve received a review copy of the new version, Annabel Karmel’s New Complete Baby & Toddler Meal Planner, and in the past week I’ve used it to look up basic recipes that Baby Boy might like. I’ve taken a step back, trying a peas and carrots recipe from the book, for example, in an attempt to give Baby Boy some sweeter vegetable purees.

I came to enjoy the bright and colourful Quick and Easy Weaning book I wrote about last week too, as I always feel rushed, but the bestseller has even more recipes and ideas for mums who want a book they’ll keep referring back to during the first years of baby’s life.

Annabel Karmel’s New Complete Baby & Toddler Meal Planner is what it says on the tin. It’s the ultimate guide, giving parents an in-depth overview of the essentials of weaning, and I spent several evenings reading the first part before starting weaning.

The book is a good guide to read before embarking on this new chapter in baby’s life, and it’s a source of inspiration for whenever a new challenge arises or baby is ready for more adventurous meals.
