Mum’s night out with Jersey Boys

Jersey BoysYesterday I felt lucky to have a good friend without kids. I had received two free tickets to see Jersey Boys, the musical about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, from Superbreak, and planned a night out with another new mum. It was clearly doomed to fail.

An hour and a half before my friend and I were meant to jump in a cab, she was forced to pull out due to her baby being unwell.

Despite being all set for my Soho excursion, humming along to Big Girls Don’t Cry, Oh What a Night and Beggin’ suddenly seemed a lot less tempting. It was the very first time I had planned to go somewhere as inaccessible as a theatre since Baby Girl was born, and I didn’t exactly fancy going solo.

Thirty minutes later I could cheer up again though. One of my impulsive friends–who doesn’t have a seven-month old baby–changed her plans and set off to meet me at The Prince Edward Theatre.

And after two and a half hours at the theatre, a mini bottle of champagne and a tub of Haagen Dazs, we both agreed it had been well-worth the hassle. To me, it felt like I had been through a lesson in music history and I was impressed with the lead singer and all the big hits–not to mention the fab view from our loge seats. I didn’t even check my phone once. This must have been good.

Sounds good! As I have written here before – its really essential for all the moms to get some rest and enjoy themselves – the happier the mommy the happier the baby! And on a side note – a tub of Haagen Dazs (especially Strawberry cheesecake) makes everything better, doesn’t it…:)
