When baby takes her first steps

Clarys white shoesShe’s walking. She’s walking. I wanted to shout out the big news as 12-month old Baby Girl was taking her first ever steps in the music room at Purple Dragon on Saturday. It was potentially the most exciting happening in the past year since her birth.

For once, I didn’t care that she was dangerously close to a little boy hammering away on the drum set with a wooden stick. There was no way I was interrupting her first journey across the floor.

She wanted to play the drums with him and took her first three steps in the direction of the music, holding on to her own wooden drum stick with both hands. A few minutes later she took another eight steps across the room where there were around ten other parents and children.

It was exactly one week since she’d started pulling herself up without holding on to anything, and two days after she’d attempted to take a small step in the kitchen at home.

I’ve been eagerly awaiting her first steps, and now I only want to run around sharing the big news, texting grandparents and friends and do some more walking with Baby Girl. Off we go.
