Using Zeek for making savings on kids birthday party purchases

When I first heard about an online marketplace for gift vouchers I didn’t think it was for me. I’m usually in a rush and I couldn’t see myself buying a voucher before paying for something.

But after re-reading the initial email I was sent about an opportunity with Zeek, and spending some time on the site, I was pretty intrigued. It’s not only possible to buy gift vouchers at a discount, but it’s also possible to sell unwanted gift vouchers.

Zeek covers London department stores like Harrods and Liberty, and places many shop from regularly like iTunes, Amazon and Starbucks. When I checked yesterday it was possible to buy Starbucks gift cards at up to 23% off, for example, which seems like a bargain for mums who stop by Starbucks for the morning coffee every day and like the convenience of having a pre-loaded card to pay with.

When I was set a challenge by Zeek to use Zeek for organising a party, however, Starbucks coffees weren’t exactly what I was looking for. I received Zeek credit to try the marketplace, and I focused on getting gift cards to spend on party food and extras for kids goody bags.

The main events in our household have quickly become kids birthday parties, and prior to celebrating Big Girl’s party over the weekend I felt like a savvy shopper, getting gift vouchers at John Lewis and Sainsbury’s at a discount as part of the collaboration with Zeek.

One of my vouchers was an online voucher, and I then received the code straightaway and copied it into the payment details page on the John Lewis site. It was incredibly easy and only took minutes more to get a few percent off some Play-Doh party packs for the youngest party goers.

The other voucher I got was an in-store voucher, and this arrived in the post days after getting it on Zeek. It was a branded voucher and could have been used as a gift to someone as well.

Big Girl and I spent ours on a shopping trip to Sainsbury’s Fulham Wharf and bought everything from sandwich fillings and apple juice for the kids and champagne and elderflower cordial for the grown-ups.

Zeek is worth checking out when you know you’re going on a big shopping spree, or when you simply want to add a coffee stop to your morning Back to School routine.
