3 family shows I wish I’d seen on stage this Christmas

I was meant to go see The Wind in the Willows at Rose Theatre, which I was excited about as it seemed like a sweet and enchanting festive family show that Big Girl and I could enjoy together. I ended up missing the show midst pre-Christmas stress, but for other London families there may still be time to go, as it’s on until 3 January. The Wind in the Willows is based on the children’s classic by Kenneth Grahame, and tells a story of friendship and courage. Babe, The Sheep-Pig at Polka Theatre
I was also meant to go see Babe, The Sheep-Pig at Polka Theatre in Wimbledon, but Big Girl ended up going without me. She came home, saying we should go together and she could see it again, as she really wanted me to see it too, which made it sound like it was a hit. The production brings the classic children’s novel and Oscar-winning family film alive, telling the story of a little pig with big dreams, arriving at a new farm and taken in by a trusty sheep dog. Babe, The Sheep-Pig is recommended for children aged 5 to 11 and is playing at Polka Theatre until 5 February.

Little Red Riding Hood at Chelsea Theatre
A large group of friends went to see Little Red Riding Hood at Chelsea Theatre the other day, and I was gutted we missed it because of a short trip abroad. The Little Red Riding Hood plays at Chelsea Theatre until Christmas Eve, and little ones are invited to attend in nightwear and slippers for a magical experience. The show, recommended for children aged 4 and over, tells the traditional story with a twist, and Little Red Riding Hood is at Grandma’s House on Christmas Eve.
