A day in the life of parents with a girl

‘Really?’ I say
‘Yes, it’s a cool song,’ replies Daddy T

It’s 11.36pm on a Saturday night and Daddy T has just put on Let It Go for us. I can’t stop giggling.

I’m not surprised he’s fallen in love with the empowering song though. It’s only five hours since we’ve been singing it loudly and dancing around the kitchen island with Baby Girl dressed in a princess dress–a happening that is pretty standard in our princess-obsessed household these days.

Earlier in the day Daddy T had popped into Peter Jones to get some Duplo for the Easter weekend–with instructions only to buy princess-themed with purple and pink bricks despite the unisex version being more practical now that we’re expecting a boy next.

After Peter Jones, we had stopped in Peggy Porschen, where we had ended up asking our waiter to pour the babyccino into a pink tea cup instead of the green one she had first brought to avoid a meltdown on an otherwise lovely day, and in the car on the way home Baby Girl and I had washed, brushed, fed and dressed up Sleeping Beauty’s kitten Beauty in the Palace Pets app on her iPad.

At home for bathtime we had then persuaded Baby Girl that it really was fine to put her hair up with a hairband to avoid it getting wet, as she would then look exactly like Tiana – which she was obviously thrilled with – despite not any of us knowing who Tiana was until a few weeks ago.

It’s not, however, just Baby Girl who’s engrossed in the fascinating world of princesses where everyone wears beautiful dresses, sings catchy songs and loves a dash of pink.

We’re all sold now!
