Creating personalised Valentine’s Day gifts at Sammy Duder in Battersea

Sammy Duder Valentines Day Gift‘I hope daddy will be happy’

Baby Girl was very focused. She had decided to do a big plate for Daddy T at the painting session we had been invited to at pottery studio Sammy Duder, and she was stamping Ts all over the plate, a couple of fishes and some flowers.

The lovely lady who helped us found pale colours we could start with, and then suggested we do two handprints to make a heart shape in a darker colour in the middle of the plate. She made a drawing of what this ideal Valentine’s present could look like, and Baby Girl was definitely sold. This was exactly what she wanted to make for her daddy.

We’ve now been to Sammy Duder several times, and with opportunities to paint, put on pink aprons, sit on colourful chairs, and play with the toy basket, I think this must be one of Baby Girl’s favourite places in London. For me, the welcoming Sammy Duder studio stands out because Baby Girl’s plate, for example, will end up looking much more professional than we could have managed on our own, as the staff offer a writing service. The lady who helped us will paint on ‘To Daddy’ and she’ll paint a little heart in the middle of the heart-shaped handprints.

I also love the personal touch at Sammy Duder, and we made a dog bowl before Christmas, which the lady who helped us now remembered and asked about. I was thrilled to share that it had been Grandma N’s favourite Christmas present, and again, part of what made it such a lovely present for Grandma N’s dog was the fact that the Sammy Duder staff had written Baby Girl’s name and age next to her footprint on the dog bowl and the dog’s name in the middle of the bowl.

This time I know we’ll have a very happy Daddy T on Valentine’s Day. I’ve already assured Baby Girl that she can be confident her beautiful present will go down well with her daddy!

Plates are £10, £20 and £25 to paint depending on size, and pottery can be collected after 10 days. The studio fee is £5.
