Making mealtime fun for baby

Vegetable PureeI feel I’m taking multi-tasking to a new level. Easter was meant to be relaxing, but it’s not particularly relaxing to feed a baby, sing Incy Wincy Spider and write a blog post at the same time. In fact, it’s not even really possible when Baby Girl starts crying as soon as my singing stops.

I was trying to be on the computer at the same time as I was feeding Baby Girl yesterday, but it was not a huge success. When Daddy T heard Incy Wincy Spider going up the spout at the wrong point in the short song, he realised he had to step in.

I know it’s not a good idea to divide my attention between her and the computer. I usually try to plan Baby Girl’s meals around our own meals. I only tested the new set-up because there’s simply too much to do sometimes.

But I should have known by now that multi-tasking at mealtimes was not a good idea. Although Baby Girl is coming up to seven and a half months, it is difficult to get her to eat anything and I need to focus my attention on distracting her by singing and making funny noises to get her to swallow her food. It’s hard work. Very hard work. Daddy T to the rescue, please.

Women are great at multitasking even before having kids – but when kids do “arrive” its getting even one level more pro! 🙂
