Protecting baby from bugs

On Thursday, I was in the living room when I noticed I had two missed calls on my mobile and two unopened text messages. Daddy T had been trying to reach me – from the bedroom.

The first text read: “Hi”. The next one: “I’m awake”.

Living in a two bedroom flat, we don’t normally find a need to communicate with each other via mobile phones when we’re both at home. But on that day, Daddy T was strictly forbidden to leave the bedroom, keeping a safe distance from Baby Girl.

He was not feeling well, and I was very worried about potentially having a sick person in our flat.

I didn’t want us to take any risks with Baby Girl, and I was close to calling our GP to ask what people do when they catch a bug and have a newborn at home.

The first thing that came to mind was that we needed to isolate him – or get him out of the flat.

The second plan didn’t work though. I had found a hotel room for him up the road, and had suggested he could stay there for three nights and recover, trying to tempt him with room service.

But Daddy T seemed to think there was room service at home too. It wasn’t too much trouble for him to call the living room to order dinner.
