Sleep props for mums

Before Baby Girl was born we learnt a lot about sleep props for babies. The focus was mostly on the importance of trying to avoid using things like whale music and teddy bears with womb sounds to get the newborn to settle.  There was little talk about sleep props for new mums though.

Most of the time Baby Girl falls asleep without any props, but I’m the one who jump out of bed after realising I’ve been sleeping with my new ‘props’. I seem to sleep particularly well when strapped to some of my new gadgets – mainly the baby monitor or the breast pump.

A few days ago I woke up on the sofa with milk all over my pyjamas and dressing gown. I was still holding on to the breast pump, but I didn’t exactly get the angle right while napping.

Yesterday I woke up in bed with the parenting unit from the baby monitor in one hand and the torch light still on.

Sleeping with the help of props might not be Baby Girl’s cup of tea, but I certainly seem to get more rest when I have my new props close by.

This one made me chuckle! Perhaps I can add it to my Tips for New Mums’s book!

    Good idea.
Pumping seems to be an excellent activity to combine with sleeping!
