Surviving a trip to the A&E

First aid kit isolatedBaby Girl must find it difficult to understand that not everyone has godparents. This weekend would definitely not have been the same without some of hers.

Baby Girl’s godparents, who are also friends and neighbours, had been invited over for dinner, and we weren’t planning on going out. We were just looking after Baby Girl.

But this time, looking after Baby Girl meant going out. Not to anywhere with a desirable drinks menu, but to the A&E.

It was really only Baby Girl and I who had to go, but Baby Girl’s godparents kindly offered to accompany us since Daddy T was away on a skiing holiday.

It was too hard to refuse their offer – and I’m sure Baby Girl, who had come down with a high fever, felt as lucky as me to have them there. Sometimes the two of us need a bit of support. Particularly when we have to go through numerous blood tests and a three-hour long attempt to get a urine sample.

It wasn’t great being admitted to hospital after all that either. But it was truly exceptional that Baby Girl still had her godfather there with her at four o’clock in the morning.
