Top days out to see animals in and around London

With Baby Girl always getting excited to see animals, I happily drive up to an hour for her to see an elephant or a sheep. That’s why I was also happy to get involved with a summer campaign with Days Out–a site where you can search for great ideas or buy a subscription to download discounts for attractions–by writing about our top tips. Here are some of our favourite farm parks and zoos in and around London:

Bocketts Farm Park
I loved taking Baby Girl to Bocketts Farm Park, as I think it’s a brilliant attraction for little ones. Visitors can buy animal food and feed most of the animals, and there are numerous play areas for different ages. In addition, I simply found it relaxing to walk around the beautiful grounds and be outside in the country and a welcoming and fun environment. Read more HERE

Hobbledown Farm Park
Although we visited Hobbledown in Epsom on a grey day, it was a fun day out for the whole family, as there’s a large indoor play area, and we were impressed with the overall look of the park. Baby Girl enjoyed seeing the farm animals, and she could run around in the large park area. Read more HERE

London Zoo
We’re members of London Zoo, and I try to take Baby Girl on regular trips. The zoo is so large that we only choose a few sections to see every time we go, and highlights include farm animals, gorillas, giraffes, zebras, monkeys and tigers, and last time we even saw the tiger cubs. On warm summer days, there’s also a great water play area. Read more HERE

Whipsnade Zoo
I was so excited about our first trip to London Zoo’s sister zoo Whipsnade Zoo, and I think going to Whipsnade is a unique and different experience. Seeing the elephants made for a great day out, and we really enjoyed taking the car into the park and driving on the pathways to see animals in a different environment. It took us around an hour to drive to Whipsnade Zoo. Read more HERE

Battersea Park Children’s Zoo
With Battersea Park Children’s Zoo being so easy for us to get to, we visit the zoo regularly and are thrilled to be brand ambassadors of the zoo. Sometimes we only go to play in the fantastic playground, and the huge sand area there is brilliant for young children, but other times we go say hi to all the fun emus, monkeys and other animals. Love Hobbledown and Bocketts Farm! A few other great ones are Odds Farm Park, Marwell Zoo, Finkley Down Farm, and Drusillas Park. All are around an hour (or less) from London. Drusillas is probably the biggest trek in E. Sussex, but during term time it’s quiet and traffic is not so bad!
