Top half-term activities for children in London

Learn to bake with a children’s baking class at Bake with Maria
Baking class provider Bake with Maria, which has its own baking lab in St Johns Wood (see picture above), is running a children’s baking class on Friday 29 May, where they are expecting young bakers as young as 4 years old attending. Savoury treats and homemade lemonade will be served upon arrival, and during the class there will be cookie making, icing and measuring using digital scales. Children will leave with a goody bag with homemade treats at the end of the 2-hour session from 10am-12pm (£35 per child).

Biscuiteers Icing Party Group 2Join a Mr Men and Little Miss icing party at Biscuiteers
Biscuiteers in Notting Hill and on Northcote Road are hosting one-hour Mr Men and Little Miss icing parties (see picture on the left) on Wednesday 27 May between 2 and 5pm. In addition to biscuit icing, there will be storytelling and face painting, and tickets, which can be booked by phone, are £15 per child.

Help zookeepers prepare food at Battersea Park Children’s Zoo
Battersea Park Children’s Zoo, which Mummy in the City is a brand ambassador for, will give little ones the opportunity to help zookeepers prepare feeds or enrichment for a different animal every weekday over half term. The sessions start with oati on Monday 25 May at 11.45am and 2pm, and then there are ferrets on Tuesday at 11.45am and 2.15pm, monkeys on Wednesday at 11.45am and 3pm, pigs on Thursday at 11.45am and 3.30pm and meerkats on Friday at 11.15am and 2.45pm.

Take a Where’s Wally? workshop at ArcelorMittal Orbit
Wally and his friends are visiting ArcelorMittal Orbit during the May half term from 23 to 31 May, and families can join interactive daily workshops with a story trail around the lower viewing platform running between noon and 4pm (book on the day from 10am). There will also be other Where’s Wally? inspired games and activities for families, and children and adults who come dressed as Wally during half term can visit the ArcelorMittal Orbit for just £1 (subject to terms and conditions).
