5 signs we went to Disney on Ice Silver Anniversary yesterday

Disney on Ice Silver Anniversary 20161. At bedtime, three-year-old Big Girl chose the Disney on Ice Silver Anniversary programme as her bedtime book, and instead of a second book Daddy T was ordered to retell the story of Peter Pan word by word. The show, hosted by Mickey and Minnie with friends Goofy, Daisy and Donald, take the audience on a journey, starting with Lion King in Africa and then to London with Peter Pan, before moving under the sea to The Little Mermaid and ending in Arendelle for a Frozen fairy tale

2. By the time we were trying to remember the full story of Peter Pan we were practically exhausted from our earlier family workout. After dinner we were dancing around the kitchen island with Circle of Life and Can You Feel the Love Tonight blasting at full volume. Big Girl was pretending to be Nala on skates spinning around on the floor, inspired by Lion King, her favourite part of the Disney on Ice’s Silver Anniversary show, which we’d been invited to see at SSE Wembley Arena. I’m not surprised she was so impressed with Lion King, as the Lion King costumes were amazing, the skating performances were impressive and the catchy tunes are hard not to like

3. In the evening we had a Mickey Mouse plush toy spinning around in the washing machine. I had been thrilled to see Baby Boy, who I’d first planned to leave at home as I wasn’t sure he was feeling well, being captivated by the show, and him and I had gone to buy a memorabilia – a Mickey Mouse – from his first ever Disney on Ice experience in the break.

4. When driving back from Wembley in the afternoon, which can be a nightmare in terms of traffic when leaving the car park after big events, Big Girl was chatting about how much she loved the boats. I couldn’t remember many boats in the action-packed show filled with special effects, but I soon realised this wasn’t a new game she’d come up with. She had simply enjoyed the opening, which featured ‘It’s a Small World’, and had been reminded of her favourite Disneyland ride with boats

5. At bedtime 10-month-old Baby Boy fell asleep before we’d finished the story about Peter Pan. For once it was not worth trying to refuse to go to bed, as even he must have realised we’d had a full on and exciting family day out!

Disney on Ice Silver Anniversary celebrates 25 years of Disney on Ice in Europe, and today is the last day the show is on at SSE Wembley Arena. The UK tour will continue with performances in Cardiff, Glasgow, Nottingham and Leeds
