A diet for a new mum

Pink babies bottle on whiteI’m worried Baby Girl is drinking chocolate milk at the moment. She’s fully breastfed, and I’m far from following Daddy T’s January weekday diet. Instead, I’m indulging – indulging in chocolate.

When I’m out pushing the buggy during the day, I end up getting so cold that I practically can’t survive without a hot chocolate. I’m the only one in the family who hasn’t had a cold though, so I’m now convinced my choice of hot drink helps get me through the winter.

But it’s not enough with the one treat. In the evening, I have a different problem. I’m exhausted after the two-hour evening play, bath and feeding session. There’s too long until dinner will be ready, and I don’t have time to prepare a quick snack.

It always seems to make a lot more sense to spend the time cleaning toys, organising the changing bag, sterilising dummies and doing Baby Girl’s laundry. And while I’m doing all this, I eat my milk chocolate.

I just hope it won’t mean we’ll have to add Nesquik to Baby Girl’s milk when she starts drinking from a sippy cup. This was certainly not mentioned as an option on the Starting Solids course I did.
