Getting ready for outdoor family game day

When I received a list of outdoor games suitable for a family game day from Two Little Fleas I had to Google each game before choosing which ones would be best for family fun in our garden. I couldn’t quite believe how ignorant I appeared to be about outdoor garden fun when I realised there’s actually a very long list of games and activities our whole family could enjoy together.

That’s why I was thrilled to receive three games to try from Two Little Fleas–an online bingo site review company that promotes outdoor family activities this summer–to organise our very own family game day.

I think a family game day is a brilliant idea for the school holiday to encourage children to play more outside, and we’re now all set to have friends over to play as soon as we get another sunny weekend.

Here are my top three choices for fun garden games:

Giant Jenga
Building a wooden tower is one of those activities that even little ones enjoy. It’s become Baby Girl’s favourite outdoor game, and she’s found lots of ways to use the Giant Jenga game. It’s not all about building a tower for her. She also uses the bricks as a puzzle and creates a wooden road around the garden. I can see this game being lots of fun in years to come.

Croquet
So far the wooden croquet set is more for Daddy T and me and other parents we invite over, but when Baby Girl is a little bit older, she and her friends can join in the fun too. It’s one of those games that we’ve really enjoyed playing on holidays in the past, and it’s brilliant to now have a set at home, so we can make better use of our garden and spend more time outdoors even when we’re in London.

Skittles
I never imagined using the garden as a bowling lane, but now that we have a new wooden skittles set, that’s practically what we’ll be doing. The great thing about skittles is that even 23-month old Baby Girl can get involved – although part of the fun for her is most definitely to run off with the ball.
