Learning to commando crawl

Baby toys to crawlOn first impression of our living room, it could look like we own a dog–a dog that doesn’t like rice cakes. After Baby Girl started commando crawling last week, we have toys spread all over the floor. She’s exploring every little corner and her toys and rice cake crumbs go everywhere she goes.

It’s all changed. She, her toys and her crumbs used to be confined to the play mat or the playpen. Now they’re following me around.

It seemed to happen overnight. Eight-month old Baby Girl managed the arm movement last week, but didn’t move very far. A day or two later she was suddenly crossing the floor, and now she’s practically doing laps if I place her favourite toys at the opposite end of her play mat.

After she’s gone to bed in the evening, I collapse on the sofa, wondering if I really do need to tidy up her toys, or if it’s enough to clean up sticky leftovers from rice cakes.
